i've made it to new york and just as suspected i hate everything that i packed! i long for everything that i have trapped inside of my 5x10 in atx and also none of it!

technically, i got exactly what i wanted. to be freed of my current wardrobe rut to start anew. and it is with new eyes that i rebuild and remember all of the wonderful pieces that must be liberated from their texas holding cell!

like clockwork, the second that september hit the big apple the weather drastically changed for the cooler which is perfect timing to start solidifying my look for fall.

i'm thinking a kinda bohemian parisian chic gypsy. i want high waisted full trousers, to pair with my plaid camp shirts. my camel wool coat will come out of hiding along with chunky knit scarves in mustard and brown.

just a thought....

member me the Modern Gypsy?

hi.

i know it's been a bit. i can explain....

it all started last year after going to the Montana house. per usual, I was questioning my position. I found myself at, how my mom likes to explain it, a crossroads. feeling like I had explored my possibilities in San Francisco, I decided to take a leap of faith and transfer to the motherland and return to Texas.

i made my grand exodus from my colleagues at Chaiken in mid August. Saying goodbye to dear friends and the safety blanket that was my paycheck. Paycheck, how I have missed you! Dear friends, how I have missed you more! Keep in mind, that although I have missed the security that Chaiken and even San Francisco offered me for many years, I had larger aspirations for my future greatness that I won't even realize until months of struggling in my new locale of Austin, Texas.

The plan: 1. move to Austin. 2. open Modern Gypsy.

In my minds eye, Modern Gypsy is a bohemian mobile boutique offering vintage clothing, as well as, local artisans. Together, the boutique and I would travel this great state in search of unique finds and bring them to your doorstep, farmers market, art shows and music venues. My hope of opening a shop of my own, showcasing my personal sense of style and design and developing what I conceive of as my signature line, have been delayed, but never derailed.

As it turns out, I was all the Modern Gypsy that I needed. The search for relevant work in Austin has left me penniless and uninspired. I attest now that the culture in Austin is too laid back for this urban lady. I am a person who gets dressed to go to the market, the movies, the museum, the everything. As you can imagine, I stick out like a sore thumb in this beautiful green region of central texas. This time in Austin has, however, solidified my desire to move forward again, and has rekindled a renewed focus on my best skills and talents. Sometimes there really are rest stops along the highway of life, and Austin is a great place to regroup and restore the spark that drives my concepts and desire to succeed.

So, off I go! At the end of the month, I will be getting back to business. This time, the fashion mecca of the USA is on my radar. New York city look out!

Big yawn @ H&M today!

After months of anticipating Mathew Williamson for H&M the day has finally arrived. I was optimistic this morning as I passed the storefront on my way to the office. But much to my dismay, the offerings were lacking the boldness and free spiritedness that I find in Williamson's work.

What a buzz kill! I guess I save my shekels for the real thing! Maybe I will be presently surprised when chapter 2 of Mathew's H&M collection is released next month.... only time will tell.

new pearls for the president's wife

there is nothing better than mikimoto and cashmere! i was thrilled to find that i was having the same pearl of wisdom as some of my favorite houses with the resurrection of this favorite under water gem. i love using traditional tools to create uber-funky pieces.

i may be banned from fashion after this one

i hate you gladiator sandal!

Photobucket

i haven't found you flattering on anyone yet! you chop off feet and make a beautiful leg ugly with your binding straps! even worse is when you're tucked into jeans!!! how dare you!

what's going on? what happened to these fashionable women to make them choose to wear ugly shoes? you should be ashamed of yourselves for dropping money on these things!I say shame on you!

however, because I am and must be a slave to fashion, i found the only pretty gladiator around...but even still, i don't dare to venture there!
